Aims of the P.D.O.
The Regulatory Council of the P.D.O. is a semi-public, non-for-profit organisation whose main activity is product certification and promotion. By certifying our products, we assure consumers that the kakis they buy meet the requirements established in the P.D.O.’s Specification, which is a regulatory document approved by the European Commission.
Additionally, through promotional campaigns, we aim to promote a fruit variety which is virtually unknown to consumers in general.
Aims of the P.D.O.
The creation of Designations of Origin is an initiative from the European Commission serving to favour the population in rural areas offering differentiated, quality products. This allows consumers to identify and recognise these products, while enabling producers to obtain income permitting them to carry out their activities, and reducing the abandon of rural areas due to lack of profitability.
Aims of the P.D.O.
This means, first, that consumers buying a product certified by a Designation of Origin are buying a product of recognised and certified quality that meets the requirements established in the Specifications approved by the European Commission. And second, that producers, in exchange for complying with additional requirements regarding the origin of their fruit, traceability and cultivation practices, obtain recognition from consumers who understand their efforts and labours to offer quality products, helping to maintain agricultural activities in said areas, while preserving their traditional landscapes, and avoiding abandonment and the degradation of rural areas.
