In 1998, the Kaki Ribera del Xúquer Designation of Origin was created thanks to the efforts of cooperatives in the Ribera Alta district (Valencia province) with the aim of working together to promote a product that was virtually unknown to consumers.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Valencia “putxero” and desserts contest using kakis from the Ribera del Xúquer, being held in the town of l’Alcúdia. Last October 15, chefs from across the Valencian region participated in this traditional contest.
